We would be very happy to have help, but we want to keep WASH a heterogeneous group, but I am more convinced now than I was when I was approached about filing for non-profit status 5 o4 6 years ago, that had I done so then, I would soon have found myself, and a lot of non-religious, single, independent women as well, on the outside unable to get our stories told in the W.A.S.H. Rag or on the washrag.org website. Anyone questioning this should read Julia’s narrative in W.A.S.H. Rag 12.3 at either the yahoo group or washrag.org. Conservative groups would never allow their reputations to be tainted by the stories of anyone but religious, conservative, anti-choice, married mothers who are active in the PTA. In early 2004, feedback from my websites dried up. I have four other website, so I usually got a number of responses every week, along with 5—10 items of spam every day. I was getting nothing. Because I was having health problems at the time, it took me a while to do anything about it, but I finally started to take action. By August of 2004, I had discovered the source of the problem, and I have discussed this further in the W.A.S.H. Rag issues 12.2 through 13.2 which you can read at washrag.org. I also have a narrative which describes the entire ordeal at WARNING. I cannot be criticized for having assumed the individuals who have hijacked the name of my organization were also hijacking my e-mail. It seems pretty probable that someone who has stolen the name from my organization would also be happy enough to steal my web site traffic and my web site feedback. It could even relate to one of my books which is very critical of the medical/pharmaceutical establishment, When Medicine Failed. But I actually am more concerned that my traffic and e-mail have been hijacked by individuals trying to perpetuate male dominance and what is virtually forced prostitution in the workplace, and have gone on the assumption that this is the case. It is a bit hard to pin down, because I was routing both my publishing and my sexual harassment e-mail to the same e-mail server, which I could easily do at my registrar. Anyway, there is no proof that the other organizations using MY NAME were in any way responsible. There is, however, the reality that the internet criminals went after me and not |
