SAVIN (Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification) allows anyone to go to a public website for information about the custody status of offenders in jail. Anyone can also register for notification when there is a change in custody status, including releases, transfers, move to work release, etc. This information is released every 15 minutes. This program is currently available in 48 states. SAVIN Protective Order is a much newer program. It is only available in a few states. The information about the program in this state has been dispersed slowly and deliberately to ensure victim advocates and law enforcement understand the way it works and the potential delay spots. However, it does, at the very least, let victims know that a protective order has been served, even if it is well after the fact. The program usage is growing as communities learn about it and advocates, prosecutor offices and law enforcement work together to define the protective order process in that area. I have held trainings in your area with invitations going to folks who have early contact with victims of crime. I expect to be doing another training in June in Pacific County. These trainings last about two hours and are free to participants. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you might have. E. J. Graff of the Schuster Institute of Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University is investigating this issue. At a movie theater hiring teenagers, one girl was injured, four girls filed complaints. The EEOC is teaching high school students about their rights on the job. Ali Tomblin had her shirt torn off by a manager at a fast food restaurant who photographed her afterwards. On April 25, Law and Order on NBC had a depiction of a female astronaut found murdered floating in the water. The investigation finally determined that she was murdered by a fellow astronaut (male) who was infuriated because she was slated to be part of a new lunar landing, he had missed out on an earlier mission to the moon because the program had been cut by President Nixon. He was also very much a ladies man, and probably had killed her in a fit of rage because she, being a lesbian, had resisted his sexual advances. It was also implied that because he was getting older, that he knew this was his last chance. Anne Landers on 4/13/2009 in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader had a letter by a 15 year old girl being cyber stalked by another teenager. She is told to kill herself, and that her stalker is going to beat her up. She has changed her phone number twice, but continues to receive threatening phone calls. She knows the name of her stalker and knows she has a record and has gone to jail before. She was referred to the National Center for Victims of Crime (incvc.org) at (800-394-2255) It seems that this might be a number for any victim of stalking or harassment to call. If they get enough feedback from victims, they might start some action to improve the protection of them. On June 8, 2009, The Mentalist had a portrayal of a corporate office in which one of the female executives was a sexual harassment victim, and her boss, the CEO, concocted a situation to draw attention away from himself by murdering others in the office before he murdered her, because she was negotiation to change jobs to a competitor, and had already filed a sexual harassment complaint. I think this is more common than people think, Maxine Trujillo is a prime example, but there have been numerous examples of women who have filed sexual harassment complaints who developed “health problems” and many have died afterwards. There have never been any studies done on this problem, perhaps nobody wants to know how common this is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mysterious Miniports Inside Windows Registry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was so infuriated that MSN was accommodating the remote access device in their connection that I was planning to change ISPs anyway, but they hurried the process along by discontinuing the local access number I had been using so I changed ISPs. The new one also is accommodating the remote access device. I cannot log on without activating the remote access device. Now isn't that a bunch of crap. For as long as ten years, I have to unplug all of my telephones in my house when I bring my computer up. If I do not, I have multiple problems with my printer. When I first realized this, I did not understand why, but I do now, at least partly. Also, unplug the power as more complex printers have to have computers in them, and remote access could be used to program them to effect your system after you plug in the data cable. When you are trying to find something on Windows, you have been led to expect that it will be visible in Windows, but this is simply not true. As I mentioned before, many things in the registry are hidden, and I even found one entry in the system registry which had the caption "deep hide", and when I searched the registry on "deep" to try to find if there were more of these entries, THE SEARCH CAME UP EMPTY. So apparently some items in the registry can even be hidden from registry search. Recently, I discovered another which I documented: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced SuperHidden 1 But by searching on keywords, you have a pretty good chance of finding them. Keywords are words that the system itself recognizes, and two of these are "device" and "driver." I first searched on "device" and I found all of the devices that are on the system listed, the C:, D: and A: drives, the monitor, keyboard and mouse. But then I found some devices listed that I could not associate with any device I knew of, there were eight listed with just a number 20 digits long or so. I knew one was for the modem, which was not listed with the system devices, and I have two printers, so that left five unaccounted for. On a subsequent search on "device," I found something called a miniport, in fact, I found a Freedom miniport and four WAN miniports, that accounted for an additional five devices. I then searched on "driver" to see what I could learn about the various devices, as every device has to have a driver. Every one of the drivers associated with all of the miniports had entries for RASMAN, LANMAN and UI, which I finally found out was short for "user interface." I called Hewlett Packard and asked them what the Freedom miniport and the WAN miniports were used for, and they didn't know. They had me pull out my computer and tell them what the various connections were on the back of my computer. I did this, and there was no connection for anything but the devices I knew were there. They sounded even more puzzled than I was. During my vaious searches in the system registry, I realized that LEGACY was Windows audio system. While I had my computer pulled out for HP, I did pull out the connection for my speakers, assuming it was connected to the remote access device. For a period, I did not have any problems associated with the remote access device. I had been looking for a system icon in the control panel for some time but never could find one. One of the tech support people told me to click on the upper left hand corner of the control panel for "classic view," and voila, there is was. After I spent several hours getting my computer put back together, I went into the control panal system icon and looked at the device list. It did have an entry for the Freedom DEVICES, so they were apparently all connected. I went through everything in the system icon trying to find something about the drivers, but there was only a "driver signing" option which was of no use. Knowing how computers work, I know that if the device or driver is not available, the device will not work. I was able to disable the miniports here, but then the USB ports suddenly developed something called "root" as part of their description, and that didn't look right to me. So I searched on "root" in the system registry, and found that it was indeed in the miniport device area, and it did point to the USB ports. I had found that I could temporarily disable the remote access device and the LAN device in the msconfig services menu by taking the check mark out of "Network Connection" and "Remote Access Connection." Forced to do another (my tenth) system recovery, immediately afterwards I went in to disable the Freedom Devices and found that I could uninstall them, which I did, giving me another respite from the remote access device. When I had done previous recoveries, I had not disabled the RASMAN and LANMAN before I had done them, and I was only able to disable the Freedom Devices. I also got a window to create a password for access to my computer, which had never been available in the 7 or 8 years I have had this computer. That was another benefit. But other than my temporary flash drives which are only in a port when I am using them, the only other USB port being used was one of my printers. But why had they been connected to my speakers, and when I disconnected them, why were they connected to my printer? Well, that is a long story. When I was about twelve, around 1948, a little friend of mine called and wanted me to come and visit her. I did walk two miles to her house one afternoon, and when I got there, she went into the living room and asked her mother if she could show me something. Her mom said that she guessed it would be OK, and my friend came back into the kitchen and opened the oven door on their cook stove. When she did so, music started playing. She closed and opened it repeatedly, and every time she opened it, music played, and every time she closed it, the music stopped playing. I was fascinated. I went home and asked my mom why our oven did not play music when we opened it, and even went and opened it to make sure it did not. It was silent. When I was in the Navy in 1955, I went to electronics school, and I told every instructor I had about this and asked them how the oven had played music. Finally one of them told me that the oven was resonant to the transmission frequency of the radio station across the road, their house was literally in the shadow of the transmitter towers. Although I know I did not "discover" this phenomena, I did observe and report it, and I believe that I did that before anyone else. The computer chassis is by design shielded to prevent stray signals from effecting its operation. To get around this, I believe that the miniport can calculate the frequency of different accessories and use them to transmit and receive just like an antennae. It is hard to tell if it can use my keyboard, mouse, or monitor to transmit, their resonant frequencies may be so high or low as to be unusable, but the speakers and printer, accidentally or by design, may be in a range the miniports can use. So this explains how, without any visible antennae, a remote access device can transmit and receive signals. I believe that they can only transmit a limited range, which probably explains why whenever I am on the computer, there were vehicles driving back and forth on the road around 40 feet from my office. They have a laptop computer they are using to connect with my computer via the printer. Because of the limited range, there is no danger of the signals conflicting with the signals of any TV or Radio stations. What is really amazing is why a bunch of goons are so threatened by a 73 year old woman that they obsessively dog her every keystroke on the computer. This also may explain some of the bizarre events people claim have happened to them, hearing voices etc. Maybe a statue they bought in Rome as a souvenir or a picture in a metal frame they bought in Tokyo is resonant to some common transmission frequency. I myself had to quit using fiber filled pillows and switch to foam rubber pillows because I kept being awakened by noises every hour all night long -- coincidentally or by design. I was finally able to get rid of the remote access option in mscofig services by going into the system registry and deleting, I repeat, I finally got up the guts to delete all of the drivers that had "miniport" in them. I still have a LAN, I am trying to figure out what to delete to get rid of it now. It is tricky to alter the systems registry, but anything not associated with the operating system itself should not effect it, a person might just lose some function like a printer. When you have the systems icon in the control panel open, you might want to check the "remote" tab. Microsoft apparently had the forethought to provide hackers access to your computer by giving them a signal to indicate that this computer is waiting for someone other than the owner to run it. You can disable it by clicking on "Advanced" and remove the checkmark from the box to allow this computer to be controlled remotely. Set the time to "1" and "minute" and click on "OK", then remove the checkmark from the box to allow remote assistance invitation to be sent from this computer. But I'm sure the hackers can circumvent this even though you have indicated it should not be used. The reason I say this, is because at the start of this problem, I went into Bios and disabled the LAN there. It took the hackers a week or ten days to figure out a way to get around that. You can do this by hitting on the F1 key repeatedly after you turn your computer on. If you get a screen to reload BIOS, turn the computer off and back on, then wait ten seconds before you start to hit F1 every few seconds. It is a simple on/off switch, be careful not to accidentally change anything there, because if you do, there is probably nobody at Microsoft who can help you fix it. The Microsoft system registry is so full of smoke and mirrors, it would do credit to Houdini. Of the computer users with desktop computers in their homes, only a small fraction of them use a home network or similar network, there is almost no reason to include all of the components for one in Windows operating system. There is no valid reason for anyone to be able to hide anything in the system registry, but Window allows virtually anything in the system registry to be hidden from the owner. Next time, I will tell you about svchost.exe. You can see what I am talking about by hitting CTL/ALT/DEL at the same time, and click on processes. Svchost.exe is just more of Windows smoke and mirrors. Looking at it there, guess what, you cannot tell what is being executed, SO YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT IT! If anyone gets a class action suit started against Microsoft and Hewlett Packard, their best defense would be ignorance, as it is something that has already been proven. If a 73 year old woman whose entire background dates back to IBM 360/370 OS, who has never had an hour's education in Microsoft Windows or its registry, who has not worked as a programmer/analyst for over 30 years can find something like this in their operating system/computer, then their only argument other than providing services to hackers is ignorance. First, is the “Find” function under edit. Hit F3 to keep looking for the same item, it saves time. Second, if you open a notepad document, you can easily save the Key by right clicking on the item on the left side of the screen, and then opening the notepad document and hitting “V” while holding down on CTL. If you cannot read the entire text on the right side of the screen, you can right click on it and then click on “Modify” and there, you can copy it or copy the name it has and insert either in the notepad document. Also, if you decide to delete something, that option will be available if you right click on it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Opportunities for Women ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For women who are or were military the VA has free PTSD therapy.
