did not know about their limit or even exactly how big my membership list was, I went over the limit and the address was locked so I cannot send out any e-mail at all. I’ve been trying to get it unlocked for two weeks, they keep telling me it is unlocked but I still cannot mail out anything from it and the newsletter has yet to be sent out On 11/12/2004, I checked my e-mail on yahoo, as when I sent out the newsletter, my old newsletters were still there and yahoo support insisted that the group was still viable and on their system. I was astounded to get an invitation from a yahoo client who identified herself as “WomenAgainstSexualHarassmentNational Moderator <WomenAgainstSexualHarassmentNational-owner@yahoogroups.com>! Since this is my group, I sent her an e-mail suggesting that she stay off my account and changed the password. Now it seems that I received this e-mail because either hackers have made changes so I will not receive feedback from my group, or yahoo has made changes to their software that have made my feedback bounce, and I am just getting the bounce from their e-mail. I have received another since hers. In any case, my yahoo group has somehow been made useless, and I will keep my membership list offline on floppies until a better alternative can be found. I hope that this will be of some use to someone somewhere in locating and stopping hackers from easily manipulating other people's e-mail and web site traffic. If I could make one recommendation and only one, it would be for the logging the IP addresses of visitors to e-mail and web site accounts. If these had been logged at domainpeople and I could have checked, which I certainly would have done, I would know who was doing the damage, although from the unauthorized sites receiving my web site traffic, one can pretty well assume who was responsible. I plan to put some of the information about tools I used to trace the people |
